Learning more about KiwiSaver

If you want to learn KiwiSaver more in depth online I recommended the IRD KiwiSaver web site.

The best way however, to get into the nitty gritty is to read the books by Mary Holm.
The first one is kiwisaver - how to make it work for you.

This book was published in 2007 and provides an excellent grounding on KiwiSaver. You can purchase this for about 10 bucks from Good Returns or Fishpond.
KiwiSaver - How to make it work for you
Her second book KiwiSaver Max was published in 2008.

This book deals with some common misconceptions and provides the result of a survey of 31 providers. You can purchase this book for about 17 bucks at the Good Returns bookstore.

Calculators

ASFONZ (The Association of Superannuation Funds of New Zealand) has provided a pretty good fee charge comparison. And, Sorted offers some good calculators.

Scheme Comparison

The Consumer Magazine people offer a comparison calculator between the scheme providers which isn’t bad.

Beware of sites like kiwiselect
where one might think that you are getting a full comparison between scheme providers. You ain't. Also be aware that there are intermediaries out there who get a commission from the providers that they recommend.
